Black tip reef shark (carcharinus melanopterus ) |
 That’s the most spread shark in our waters, we can find him inside the lagoon or on the reef outside of the lagoon. Easily recognizable by it is black tips on each fin, we meet everyday males and female compare to the grey reef sharks where females are more numerous on diving sites
Mao mauri (Tahitian name) can reach 2 meters (6 to 7 feet) but the average is about 1,60 meters (5 feet), this viviparous shark is living in schools of a dozen of animals in quiet a territorial behavior.
After 8 to 9 month pregnancy, the female gives birth to 3 or 4 babies who are going to grow around 4 cm (2 inches) a year to reach sexual maturity around 1 year. |
